I typically utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach that emphasizes the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My goal for every patient is to teach them everything they need to know so that they will eventually be able to utilize these skills on their own without my help.
I see children, adolescents, and adults for therapy as well as psychological assessment. In therapy, I help individuals with a variety of emotional/behavioral difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and anger difficulties.
Once I get a sense of how best to help each individual person, I will begin teaching them everything they need to know about the skills we will be working on. We will then begin practicing those skills in session. Additionally, we will discuss and process any major difficulties or stressors that they need to talk about.
I always wanted to help people one way or another. When I found the field of psychology, I learned the importance of mental health, and something clicked. Suddenly, I knew I found the answer I was looking for. I realized that helping people with a variety of mental health difficulties was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family. I also love anything with a good story: movies, TV shows, musical theater, and even video games. I also like going on adventurous hikes and kayaking.
It is very difficult for me to pick a favorite, but I would probably have to say either Harry Potter or Star Wars. I just love the imagination and creativity involved in these stories. And I love the message that perseverance, determination, teamwork, friendship, and/or family can help one accomplish great things.
