My Treatment Philosophy

I consider myself a "deep thinker" meaning one who likes to spend time in contemplative exploration of ideas, concepts and life events. Life is full of many complex situations, and I have a heart for people who are seeking peace in the middle of these circumstances. Since I believe how we think and process any life event can add to or take away from mental health and peace, I rely heavily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This is a type of therapy that assists individuals in the identification of thought patterns and behaviors they are having in relationship to life events. The goal of CBT is helping individuals develop productive coping strategies as they face problems. However, as each person is unique, I am aware that other counseling approaches may be more appropriate to their circumstances. With that in mind, I pull resources from other proven effective techniques.

Who I Work With

I work with children, adolescents, and adults.

What Therapy Looks Like In My Office

Deciding to seek therapy can be a difficult decision. My goal is to present myself as the caring person that I believe I am. I want to be as transparent and approachable as possible, hopefully encouraging the same in others. Life is a great gift, and I believe every life has a God granted purpose. With that belief comes the responsibility to treat everyone with respect and understanding. My goal is that my office will be a safe and inviting place for those who enter it seeking help.

Why I Became A Counselor

There are many reasons that I chose this profession. My father was a Licensed Professional Counselor, Pastor and Educator. My mother was a School Counselor. Seeing them help others definitely made an impression on me as a child and young adult. I realized early in life that I wanted to be in a "helping profession". Although I entered the ministry and continue to serve as a pastor, I realized I could make a difference as a licensed counselor as well. My true motivation is to help others live as productive and peace-filled a life as possible.

My Life Outside of Work

Personal Life

I serve as a pastor of a small church. I am happily married to Lisa, who is an educator in a local school district. We have three children, two sons and a daughter. They are all involved in sports, so we are a busy family. We love to travel, mostly to Gatlinburg and Orlando.

My Favorite Movie

The Godfather Sage

If I Weren't A Counselor, I'd Be...

Climbing Mount Everest. I would be using the best guide I could find, and I would listen to their advice. Really, this is a dream of mine!
