My Treatment Philosophy

Everybody is different, so I tend to base my therapeutic approach on the needs of the individual; which person centered. The needs of the person dictate the type of treatment and interventions. Often, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as it focuses on the connection between thoughts, beliefs and emotions.

Who I Work With

As a Registered Play Therapist, I use play therapy with young children, as play is an essential component in their form of communication and expression. I am also certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

What Therapy Looks Like In My Office

I try to create a balance of a relaxing atmosphere, which is conducive to establishing a therapeutic alliance that promotes acceptance, growth, change and healing. Yet, still appealing to youthfulness.

Why I Became A Counselor

I remember as a young girl, watching a scene of a counseling session on television. I was fascinated and said I want to be “the doctor that knows everything.” The clinician had answers and the client felt better. I now know this is not the case. When I took my first psychology class, I knew this was the career path for me. Counseling is a God given talent that seems to come second nature; which is connected to my purpose.

My Life Outside of Work

Personal Life

I enjoy spending time with my children, reading, listening to music and attending church.

My Favorite Movie

Beauty and the Beast because it demonstrates the ability to change not only physically, but mentally as well.
